Documentary Sessions
in Cancun

Lifestyle, family & couple sessions in Cancún and across the Riviera Maya — delivered in three days. We move with you across the coast — your story stays the focus, the landscape stays in the background where it belongs.

Photographing in Cancún

Cancún is built around a long coastal strip that runs east-facing. That single fact shapes every session here: sunrise hits the Caribbean directly and gives the warmest, most cinematic window of the day, while by 10 AM the overhead sun goes harsh and washes everything flat. We schedule almost every Cancún couple and family session for the 6:00–8:00 AM window — fewer people in frame, softer light, kids still fresh.

Mexican law makes every beach in the country legally public, including the stretches that front the all-inclusive resorts in the Hotel Zone. That means a session on the sand in front of Hyatt, Sandos, RIU, or any other property does not require a vendor fee or resort approval — only the walk-out from your room to the water. Resort pool decks, lobbies, and private gardens are a different matter and need concierge coordination 24–48 hours in advance.

For couples and families, Playa Delfines is the strongest public-access beach Cancún offers. The famous CANCÚN sign sits there but tends to attract a queue; the south end of the same beach, with open dunes and the cliff above the water, gives a panoramic backdrop without the line. For something quieter, we head north toward Punta Cancún or south toward the underwater museum area. Downtown (Centro) is a different look entirely — Parque de las Palapas, Mercado 28, and the muraled streets around Avenida Yaxchilán work for a 60-minute urban session if you want a break from the postcard Caribbean aesthetic.

Booking a Cancun Session

Yes — all Cancún beaches are public by Mexican law, including the stretches in front of resorts. We work the public sand and the beach corridor either side of your hotel. Resort pool decks, lobbies, and gardens are private property and need property approval — your concierge can usually arrange this with 24–48 hours' notice. We bring a one-page session brief you can hand to them if needed.

Playa Delfines is one of the best public-access beaches in Cancún for photography — the iconic CANCÚN sign is here, the cliff above gives a panoramic backdrop, and it's far enough south of the main hotel cluster that crowds are lighter at sunrise. For a couple or family session, we usually shoot the dunes and water's edge at the south end of the beach rather than the sign itself, which tends to attract a queue.

Morning. The Cancún coast faces east, so sunrise hits the water directly and gives the warmest, most cinematic light of the day. By 10 AM the sun is overhead and harsh. Evening sessions still work — the light wraps from behind into the dunes — but the beach is busier and the post-session edit needs more lift. For families with small children, sunrise is also the most cooperative window.

Many all-inclusive resorts (Hyatt Ziva, Sandos, Palace, Moon Palace, RIU) charge an outside-vendor fee that ranges from $200 to $500 USD if the session is held on resort property. To avoid this, we shoot on the public beach in front of the resort instead — Mexican law makes the sand legally public regardless of which property fronts it. Walk-out access from your room to the water is the simplest path.

Yes — Centro has Parque de las Palapas, Mercado 28, and the colorful murals near Avenida Yaxchilán that work well for an urban session. It's a different look entirely from the beach: warmer, more local, no Caribbean light. Most travelers don't ask for this, but if you've spent a few days in Centro already and want something less postcard-typical, we can build a 60-minute walk-and-shoot route here.
