Photographing in Puerto Aventuras
Puerto Aventuras is a gated marina community 20 minutes south of Playa del Carmen, built around a series of canals and a dolphin lagoon. It's quieter and more contained than the surrounding coast — fewer day-tour groups, a controlled-access feel, and a small set of distinctive backdrops: the marina docks, the dolphin sanctuary, the beach inside the gated zone, and a short walkable promenade.
Most clients here are guests at Hard Rock Hotel, Catalonia Royal Tulum, or one of the smaller condo resorts inside the gate. Access for the session is straightforward as long as you're staying inside the community or registered as a visitor at your host's property. The beach inside the gate is calmer than open public stretches — better for small children and for sessions where you don't want surf noise on video.
Sunrise sessions are still the strongest window here. The marina light hits the water for about 30 minutes after the sun clears the horizon — that's the cleanest shooting window before the boat traffic picks up. We bring a session brief to give to the security gate if needed for non-resident visitors.

Where we shoot. Puerto Aventuras is a gated marina community, so we photograph inside it — access is arranged through your host.
Weather. If it rains we reschedule free to the next open slot in your trip; light overcast we keep.
Delivery & booking. Your edited gallery arrives in 3 days, with a sneak peek inside 24 hours. A deposit holds the date — non-refundable but transferable, with one free reschedule on 48 hours' notice.
Meeting point. We confirm the exact meeting point when you book — usually your hotel or the nearest beach access. More in our FAQ.
Booking a Puerto Aventuras Session
Yes, when you're staying inside the gate. Access is straightforward for guests of Hard Rock Hotel, Catalonia Royal Tulum, or one of the smaller condo resorts inside the community, or if you're registered as a visitor at your host's property. For non-resident visitors we bring a one-page session brief to hand to the security gate. If neither applies to you, message us before booking and we'll confirm what the gate allows that week.
It's a small, contained set of backdrops: the marina docks, the dolphin sanctuary, the beach inside the gated zone, and the short walkable promenade. Because it's a controlled-access marina community rather than open public coast, there are far fewer day-tour groups in frame than on the surrounding beaches.
It works well for young kids. The beach inside the gate is calmer than the open public stretches nearby, which means less surf noise on video and easier footing for small children. The contained layout also keeps a session low-stress — you're not walking through crowds between backdrops.

About 20 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. We coordinate the meeting point at your resort inside the gate so there's no time lost finding each other at the entrance. Plan the session around the sunrise window rather than the drive.
