Photographing on Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres is a small island off Cancún, reached by ferry from Puerto Juárez or the Hotel Zone terminals — crossing times and schedules depend on the operator, so we confirm the current plan with you. The whole island is about 7 kilometers long and easily covered on foot or by golf cart in a single morning. For couples and families looking for a day-trip session that doesn't feel like every other Riviera Maya shoot, this is the best day-trip option close to Cancún.
The strongest backdrop is Playa Norte — the shallow turquoise water on the north tip of the island, where the sand stays calf-deep for 100 meters into the sea. We shoot here at sunrise, before the day-tour groups arrive on the morning ferries. After that we move into the town center, where the streets are narrow, brightly painted, and golf carts are the main vehicle (which makes for an iconic backdrop element).
Tide matters here. At low tide Playa Norte exposes a wider sand shelf, which works for kids and walking shots. At high tide the colors are more saturated but the wading footprint is narrower. We check the tide chart before booking and time the session to match what you want from the water.

Planning Your Isla Mujeres Session
Resort fee. Some resorts charge an outside-photographer fee set by the property. Any such third-party fee is paid directly to the property, never through Roots, and we confirm the current policy with you before you book.
Where we shoot. If on-property photography is restricted, a public-beach option may be workable. We confirm the current practical access, meeting point, and any property requirements before you book.
Getting there. Prices are per session. Our standard travel is included within the destinations we list as covered. Location-specific third-party costs — such as ferries, required local transfers, access or entry fees, and permits — are separate and confirmed before booking. Travel outside our published coverage is quoted before booking.
Weather. If it rains we reschedule free to the next open slot in your trip; light overcast we keep.
Delivery & booking. Your edited gallery arrives in 3–5 days depending on package, with a sneak peek inside 24 hours. A deposit holds the date and moves with you if you reschedule, once and free, on 48 hours' notice. Our Terms list the few cases where it is refunded.
