Photographing on Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres is a small island off Cancún, reached by a 25-minute ferry from Puerto Juárez or the Hotel Zone terminals. The whole island is about 7 kilometers long and easily covered on foot or by golf cart in a single morning. For couples and families looking for a day-trip session that doesn't feel like every other Riviera Maya shoot, this is the best option within an hour of Cancún.
The strongest backdrop is Playa Norte — the shallow turquoise water on the north tip of the island, where the sand stays calf-deep for 100 meters into the sea. We shoot here at sunrise before the day-tour groups arrive on the 9 AM ferries. After that we move into the town center, where the streets are narrow, brightly painted, and golf carts are the main vehicle (which makes for an iconic backdrop element).
Tide matters here. At low tide Playa Norte exposes a wider sand shelf, which works for kids and walking shots. At high tide the colors are more saturated but the wading footprint is narrower. We check the tide chart before booking and time the session to match what you want from the water.

Planning Your Isla Mujeres Session
Resort fee. Some resorts charge an outside-photographer fee — $150–$1,000 USD, set by the property (some don't charge), paid straight to them, never through Roots. We flag it before you book.
Where we shoot. Every beach in Mexico is legally public, so if your resort charges we shoot the free sand in front instead — usually Playa Norte.
Getting there. Travel between cities is on us — a flat travel fee covers the ferry and the drive.
Weather. If it rains we reschedule free to the next open slot in your trip; light overcast we keep.
Delivery & booking. Your edited gallery arrives in 3 days, with a sneak peek inside 24 hours. A deposit holds the date — non-refundable but transferable, with one free reschedule on 48 hours' notice.

Booking a Isla Mujeres Session
By a 25-minute ferry from Puerto Juárez or the Hotel Zone terminals in Cancún. Roots covers the ferry and the drive as a single flat travel fee quoted at booking — you don't arrange a separate crossing for us. Once on the island, the whole 7-kilometer strip is easy to cover on foot or by golf cart in one morning.

Morning. Sunrise at Playa Norte gives you soft light and an empty beach; by mid-morning the 9 AM day-tour ferries land and the north tip fills up fast. A sunrise start is also the calmest window for families before the island gets busy.
