Documentary Sessions
in Riviera Maya
Documentary lifestyle photography across the Riviera Maya — Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, cenotes, resorts. Unposed sessions delivered in 3 days. We move with you across the coast — your story stays the focus, the landscape stays in the background where it belongs.
Photographing across the Riviera Maya
The Riviera Maya is a 130-kilometer coastline stretching from Cancún south to Tulum. Each section has its own character: Cancún is open Caribbean beach with the easiest hotel-zone logistics, Playa del Carmen is walkable urban-meets-beach with the most variety in one place, and Tulum is cliff, jungle, and ruins. The choice depends on where you're staying, what you want the images to feel like, and how much time you have.
Realistic drive times: Cancún airport to Playa del Carmen is 45 minutes. Playa to Tulum is another 45–60 minutes. Cozumel adds a 35-minute ferry from Playa del Carmen plus terminal waits — budget 2 hours each way. Sessions are planned around the light window, not the drive.
If you only have one window, the choice comes down to feel. For the classic Caribbean shot with simple logistics: Cancún or Playa del Carmen at sunrise. For something more cinematic and distinctive: Tulum cliff or a cenote. For quiet and intimate without crowds: Puerto Morelos at sunrise. We talk this through before booking so the location matches the look you have in mind.
Booking a Riviera Maya Session
Cancún airport to Playa del Carmen: 45 minutes. Playa del Carmen to Tulum: 45–60 minutes. Cancún to Tulum (direct): 90 minutes. Tulum to Bacalar: 2.5 hours. Cozumel adds a 35-minute ferry from Playa del Carmen plus terminal waits — budget 2 hours each way. We plan sessions so drive times never collide with sunrise or sunset shooting windows.
Yes. A typical multi-location half-day combines a sunrise beach session (Cancún or Playa del Carmen) with a mid-morning cenote shoot (Jardín del Edén or Dos Ojos). For couples on a longer trip, we've done full-day sessions across Tulum ruins, a cenote, and an evening beach finish. Full-day setups are quoted separately — travel fees, vehicle, and shifting light all factor in.
Sessions in the Cancún → Tulum corridor have no travel fee. For Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Bacalar, Holbox, and Mahahual we charge a flat travel fee that covers ferry, vehicle, and driving time. The fee is quoted at booking based on the location and session length. For the Cancún Hotel Zone or Puerto Morelos, we treat it as included.
It depends on what you want the photos to feel like. For postcard Caribbean and the easiest logistics: Cancún or Playa del Carmen sunrise. For something more cinematic and distinctive: Tulum cliff or a cenote. For something quiet and intimate without crowds: Puerto Morelos at sunrise. We talk through this on a 15-minute call before the booking so the location matches the look you have in mind.
No. We work in English and Spanish. Booking, location coordination, resort liaison (if needed), and the session itself all run in whichever language you prefer. If you're traveling with extended family who only speak one or the other, that's fine — we switch on the fly.
